Welcome to the Sognefjord Trail Run Q&A page! Here, you'll find answers to common questions about the STR event, including important times, mandatory equipment, course details, and more.   • You can get to the start by bus or car.

    For 50K runners: Here is a link to the bus you need to take from Sogndal centrum to the arena. This leaves at 7:20 and arrives 7:29, 5 minutes walking distance from the starting area.

    Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee you a parking space at Kaupanger Idrettspark, as there are limited parking spots available, but there will also be other parking options in Kaupanger centrum.

    Saturday, June 6, 2026 (Kaupanger Idrettspark)

    • 50K start: 08.00

    • 27K start: 11.00

    • 17K start: 12.00

    • Kids Race start: 15.30

  • Mandatory equipment varies by distance, including warm clothes and GPS device.

    • Full list of mandatory equipment is listed in the Race Manual here.

  • We have not set any specific requirements for the rating of wind and waterproofing for jackets/pants. The most important thing is to have good products that provide good protection in the high mountains for changing weather and conditions, as well as wind and water. The longer the distance, the more important it is to have a high degree of wind and waterproofing on jackets/pants. As a participant, you are responsible for making sensible choices here.

  • All participants can have friends pick up their bib number and any ordered STR gear on Friday. If this is not possible, the bib number can be picket up Saturday morning from 07:30 at Kaupanger Idrettspark.

    • The check-in and bib distribution will be held at Meieriet in Sogndal city center.

      • Friday, June 5, 2026: 15:00 - 21:00

      For those who are unable to check in and pick up their bib number on Friday, we have an arrangement for this at Kaupanger Idrettspark on Saturday morning starting at 07:30.

    • All distances will be marked with orange event flags or signs.

    • Regardless of your distance, we recommend that all participants import the official GPX file to their watch. This is especially important for the 50k runners, as flags can be moved, or visibility can become poor.

  • Yes, there will be food and drink stations:

    • For 50K: Food and drink station after ca. 18 km, 27 km and 35 km.

    • For 27K: Food and drink station after ca. 10km and 18 km.

    • For 17K: Food and drink station after ca. 9 km.

    • For all distances: Simple refreshments at the finish line at Kaupanger Idrettspark.

  • A ticket to STR 2026 includes, among other things, free access to the gathering and entertainment on Friday evening in Sogndal, all race activities at Kaupanger on Saturday, and the STR after-run celebration in Sogndal on Saturday evening.

    The prices are available upon registration.

    The prices for STR 2026 reflect costs, market rates and demand. These prices ensure that we can maintain high quality and provide the best possible experience for you as a participant.

    Welcome to the Ultimate Trail Run Experience!

    • If you must withdraw from the race for any reason, you must report this to an official at the nearest aid station.

    • For 50K runners, if you don’t reach the checkpoint (CP) in Festingdalen by 12:00 (4 hours), you must drop out of the race and be recorded as DNF. This is important to ensure that safety can be maintained for all other participants.

    • Prize draws during info & entertainment on Friday, 6. june.

    • All finishers receive a STR-finisher medal.

    • Prizes for the top five men and women in each distance. The prize ceremony will take place at Kaupanger Idrettspark after finishing.

    • Prizes for the fastest male and female on the three different segments. Prize ceremony will take place at the STR After-run.

  • STR-Items ordered during registration will be distributed at check-in and bib number pickup at Sogndal on Friday. Alternatively, you can pick them up on Saturday morning at Kaupanger Idrettspark if you are unable to do so on Friday.

    NB. You are responsible for picking up the products you ordered. Products that are not picked up will not be shipped after the event.

  • This is available through Racedays once registration has closed. Follow the instructions from this link: https://www.racedays.run/account/my-registrations

  • Only for the 50K runners:

    To ensure safety for all participants, a cut-off time limit applies at Festingdalen. You must reach the aid station by 12:00 to continue. If you do not make this cut-off time, you must withdraw from the race and be registered as a DNF.

    • If there are any extra STR 2026 products left, we will sell them after the 17K has started.

    • Please pick up your STR 2026 ordered gear by 12:00. Any items unclaimed by this time will be released for sale after the start of the 17K.

  • Here is an overview of what is planned to be served at the food and drink stations. Please note that changes may occur.

    • Lerum juice/Cola/Water

    • Chocolate

    • Potato chips

    • Jelly candies

    • Lefse (Norwegian flatbread)

    • Banana

    • Water melon

    • 226ers gels and gummy bars

  • Yes there are allocated places to leave bags and belongings at the Kaupanger idrettspark, both inside and outside the Arena
